The Computer Controlled Hydrologic Studies Unit, "ESHC(2x1m)/S", has been designed by EDIBON for the advanced study of hydrological processes taking place in ground and fluvial environments. This fully stand-alone unit allows to perform a wide variety of experiments focused on the behavior of water under both static and dynamic conditions, simulating phenomena such as water infiltration after precipitation or the distribution of the water-table around a well.
This unit allows to understand complex concepts related to water dynamics in the ground. It allows realistic visualization and analysis of how water interacts with different substrates and how parameters change under different operating conditions. Users can learn about the distribution of pressures in the subsurface, the formation of aquifers, or the effects of rainfall on different types of lands, all within a controlled environment.
The "ESHC(2x1m)/S" consists of a closed water circuit that guarantees continuous or discontinuous operation depending on the requirements of the experiment. This circuit includes a reservoir, a computer controlled pumping system, a flow sensor, and a drainage system to recover the water. These components allow the unit to be self-sufficient, facilitating prolonged experiments without the need for interruptions.
The central component of the unit is a stainless steel test tank, which can be filled with different types of sands to simulate various soil conditions. This tank is adjustable in inclination thanks to an elevation system, which makes it possible to simulate slopes and study how the angle of the terrain affects water flow. In addition, it incorporates pressure outlets in its base, which allows studying the water levels in the subsoil with the help of pressure sensors, providing accurate and real time data.
For the simulation of different water sources, the unit has a precipitation device consisting of eight adjustable valves, which mimic the fall of rain on the surface of the tank. It also has two additional options for water supply: an inlet tank, which simulates the flow of a river, and two lateral French wells representing the inflow of groundwater. This comprehensive approach allows users to experiment with various real-life situations and study how each affects water flows.
The main advantage of this unit consists in its versatility and accuracy. With a minimum footprint and no special requirements, the "ESHC(2x1m)/S" allows a large number of hydrological tests to be performed, realistically simulating natural ground conditions. Users can easily develop experiments, adjusting key variables to better understand complex phenomena such as infiltration, groundwater distribution, and water table behavior under different scenarios.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
