ALLGEMEINE BESCHREIBUNG
The Computer Controlled Adsorption Unit, "PEAC", demonstrates the removal of substances dissolved by adsorption.
A computer controlled pump impels raw water (treated) from a supply tank to two adsorbers filled with activated carbon. A flow sensor allows to know the water flow rate impelled by the pump.
The supply tank includes a computer controlled heating element, with PID control, to study the influence of raw water temperature in the adsorption process.
There is a level sensor in the tank to control the water level.
Before entering the first adsorber, through a computer controlled peristaltic pump, a concentrated adsorbate solution available in an other tank is added to the raw water (treated). Thus, the concentration of adsorbate can be varied.
This water descends through the first adsorber, entering in contact with the activated carbon bed. A second adsorber is included for better adsorption.
Adsorbers include sampling points to analyze the concentration of adsorbate.
The circuit includes a series of valves to vary the contact time between raw water and activated carbon.
When clean water leaves the adsorbers it may be collected for its analysis in open circuit or returned to the supply tank in closed circuit.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
