MCF/A Belt Friction Unit with Dynamometers
INNOVATIVE SYSTEMS
The Belt Friction Unit with Dynamometers, "MCF/A", allows studies and investigations to compare the friction coefficient for a given contact angle of a flat belt and a V-belt.

General Description
The Belt Friction Unit with Dynamometers, "MCF/A", allows studies and investigations to compare the friction coefficient for a given contact angle of a flat belt and a V-belt.
With this unit it is possible to observe the relationship between tensions on both sides of a belt, to evaluate the differences between flat belts (different material) and V-belts and to investigate, among other things, the effect of the contact angle.
The pulley has different grooves to accommodate different belts and is balanced and mounted on bearings to reduce friction losses.
The pulley is driven by a crank and two dynamometers record the tensile forces at each end of the belt. Belt tension can be adjusted at one end of the belt.
Exercises and guided practices
GUIDED PRACTICAL EXERCISES INCLUDED IN THE MANUAL
- Evaluation of the differences between a flat belt and a V-belt.
- Investigation of the relationship between the belt tension and the angle of lap for a flat belt.
- Determination of the coefficient of friction between the pulley and the belt for the belt sections.
- Verification of the belt tension equation.
- Analysis of the effect of a badly fitted V-belt.
