BIETC Computer Controlled Biomedical Electrotherapy Unit
INNOVATIVE SYSTEMS
The Computer Controlled Biomedical Electrotherapy Teaching Unit, "BIETC", has been designed by EDIBON to study, in an experimental way, the low, medium and high frequency waves effects in human tissues and acquire the necessary knowledge to work with electrotherapy unit.
RELATED NEWS
General Description
The Computer Controlled Biomedical Electrotherapy Teaching Unit, "BIETC", consists of an electrotherapy machine used in a professional field , and a control interface box.
The control interface box has the connection to the PC to acquire the signals from the electrotherapy unit. Inside the control box are located:
The signal analyser for the two channels of the electrotherapy unit.
The skin emulator: containing the simulation of three different types of skins, each one with different electrical impedance.
The electrotherapy unit allows the user to set the desired electrotherapy programme and configuration, to perform the test on the skin emulator.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
Exercises and guided practices
GUIDED PRACTICAL EXERCISES INCLUDED IN THE MANUAL
- Understanding the different effects of the low and medium frequency currents in the human tissues.
- Testing the effects of the electrotherapy waves according to the different factors involved in this type of therapy (frequency, tissues resistance, waveform, etc.).
- Understanding different application examples: iontophoresis, ease pain, etc.
MORE PRACTICAL EXERCISES TO BE DONE WITH THE UNIT
- Study of the therapeutic applications of electricity. Other possibilities to be done with this unit:
- Many students view results simultaneously. To view all results in real time in the classroom by means of a projector or an electronic whiteboard.
- Open Control, Multicontrol and Real Time Control. This unit allows intrinsically and/or extrinsically to change the span, gains, proportional, integral, derivative parameters, etc, in real time.
- The Computer Control System with SCADA allows a real industrial simulation.
- This unit is totally safe as uses mechanical, electrical/electronic and software safety devices.
- This unit can be used for doing applied research.
- This unit can be used for giving training courses to Industries even to other Technical Education Institutions.
- Control of the BIETC unit process through the control interface box without the computer.
- Visualization of all the sensors values used in the BIETC unit process.
- Several other exercises can be done and designed by the user.
