The Dynamic Loads Application, "AEL-DLT", has been designed to study the behavior of the dynamic loads in the field of power systems.
The application consists of a squirrel cage induction motor which will be used as a dynamic electrical load. In order to analyze its influence on the power grid, the application also includes a network analyzer to visualize the most relevant electrical parameters such as power factor, line currents, active, reactive and apparent power, among many other parameters. This analyzer also has a communications port with its own software to display the waveforms as well as the electrical parameters measured.
On the other hand, it is interesting to be able to study the traditional star/delta starting method in induction motors by means of the module included in this application. In this way it is possible to observe the difference between a direct start and a more progressive start as mentioned above. In order to perform the star/delta start, the application also includes a three-phase autotransformer that allows to adapt the voltage levels of the network to those suitable for the induction motor. Also included are two capacitor bank modules designed to perform mains power factor compensation. This is necessary when the mechanical load on the induction motor shaft increases. This is when, in real installations, capacitor banks are incorporated to optimize the power factor.
It is important to note that the "AEL-SERIN/CA-1KW" application must be purchased. This application is essential to be able to dynamically load the shaft of the squirrel cage induction motor. It is a servomotor with its respective controller that will allow to vary the mechanical load on the squirrel cage motor shaft in order to study its behavior in all its torque/speed curve spectrum. In this way it will be possible to observe the influence of this load on the electrical parameters of the network that will supply power to the motor. This is what happens in real electrical networks throughout the day. Electrical loads of different types are connected and disconnected, influencing the demand curve and also the overall power factor of the electrical network.
For advanced electrodynamic testing of electrical machines, it is recommended to acquire the Electrical Machines Control and Data Acquisition Software, "EM-SCADA", together with the "AEL-SERIN/CA-1KW" application. This advanced software allows the monitoring of voltage, current, torque and speed waveforms for the in-depth study of the electrical machines under test.
