3.3.- APPLIED COMMUNICATIONS
Nowadays, the applications and uses of telecommunications are numerous, such as telematic services, mobile communications or GPS positioning systems. This expansion of telecommunications to all areas of daily life has been possible thanks to the technological development of communications, for example the development of satellite communications, the emergence of fiber optics and the digitalization of media. This technological expansion has enabled greater coverage, greater communication speed and different ways of communicating between people.
View moreTelephone communications have undergone a considerable evolution, moving from landline telephone networks to high-speed mobile phone networks. Thus, it has evolved from the fixed technology to the GSM or second generation (2G), GPRS (3G) and 4G technology or protocol to the 5G technology.
Since the emergence of the Internet and the development of different protocols based on the TCP/IP protocol, there has been an exponential growth of local area computer networks (LAN, WLAN, and WPAN) and wide area computer networks (WAN). Within the wireless networks, protocols and standards such as WiFi, Wimax, Bluetooth and ZigBee have given rise to devices and systems connected to the Internet with what is known as the Internet of Things (IoT).
