4.1.- ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS
The electrical installations include the group of electrical circuits intended to supply electrical power to buildings, facilities, infrastructures and any public place.
View moreThe field of electrical installations is vast. It includes high voltage and low voltage electrical systems. Within the latter, we can distinguish between industrial electrical installations and domestic electrical installations.
The field of domestic electrical installations includes air conditioning, lighting control, energy management, anti-theft alarm systems, fire alarm systems, access control systems, etc.
On the other hand, industrial automation systems are becoming more and more common in industrial electrical installations. These systems consist of controllers, sensors, actuators and switches that fulfill different purposes. For example, PLCs, variable frequency drives and electronic starters are often used to control electrical machines. These devices allow a greater degree of automation and control over electrical machines. For this reason, they are gradually replacing the conventional star-delta starters.
Every installation requires electrical protections that guarantee the safety of both equipment and people. According to the element to be protected, there are protections such as overload protection relays, overcurrent protection relays, overvoltage protection relays, differential protection relays, reverse power protection relays, etc.
