Reaktor kimia adalah perangkat di mana reaksi kimia dapat dihasilkan. Ini berarti bahwa perubahan komposisi kimia dari materi yang dimasukkan terjadi di dalam reaktor.

Keduanya dirancang sedemikian rupa sehingga diperoleh konversi dan selektivitas terbaik, hasil yang paling optimal. Mereka dapat mengandung katalis, suatu senyawa yang meningkatkan kinetika reaksi, tergantung pada reaksi yang dilakukan. Jika katalis ini adalah enzim yang dimurnikan atau organisme yang mengandung enzim tersebut, maka kita berbicara tentang bioreaktor.

Ada beberapa klasifikasi reaktor: tergantung pada jumlah fasa (homogen dan heterogen), rezim termal (isotermal atau adiabatik) dan jenis operasi (terputus-putus, kontinu atau mengalir dan semikontinu).

Bergantung pada jenis operasi:

  • Berkelanjutan. Reaktor (CSTR) tangki campuran / pengaduk sempurna, reaktor aliran plug/tubular.
  • Terputus. Tangki diaduk reaktor (batch).

Menurut jumlah fase:

  • Fase tunggal. Tempat tidur tetap, tempat tidur bergerak, tempat tidur terfluidisasi, dll.
  • Heterogen. Beberapa fase. Mereka bisa menjadi katalitik atau non-katalitik. unggun tetap dan unggun terfluidisasi adalah contoh paling umum dari reaktor heterogen katalitik.

Ini adalah reaktor yang paling umum, meskipun ada banyak reaktor lain seperti reaktor gabungan seri, reaktor katalitik enzimatis, reaktor daur ulang, dll.
