2.5.- ELEKTRONIK OTOMOTIF

Elektronika otomotif adalah cabang dari rekayasa elektronik yang berfokus secara eksklusif pada pengembangan sistem listrik dan elektronik yang dirancang khusus untuk dipasang di mobil. Semua sistem yang dikembangkan dalam elektronika otomotif disesuaikan untuk menahan kondisi operasi keras di dalam mobil.

Saat ini, sistem elektronik yang dipasang di mobil bertanggung jawab untuk berbagai tugas, seperti sistem manajemen mesin melalui unit kontrol mesin atau ECU, sistem injeksi, sistem pengereman anti terkunci atau ABS, pengaturan anti-selip atau ASR, distribusi gaya pengereman elektronik atau EBD, program stabilitas elektronik atau ESP, sistem airbag, sistem pencahayaan, sistem kenyamanan kabin, dll. Semua sistem ini berkontribusi untuk meningkatkan keamanan, efisiensi, kenyamanan, dan mengurangi polusi yang dihasilkan oleh mobil.

Masa depan elektronika otomotif menjanjikan karena semakin banyaknya integrasi elektronik dalam mobil dengan diperkenalkannya konsep mobil terhubung (dengan ponsel pengguna dan internet), dengan semakin berkembangnya kendaraan hibrida atau mobil listrik (di mana pengelolaan baterai dan penggerak mobil dilakukan secara elektronik), dan terutama dengan pengembangan serta implementasi mobil otonom atau mobil tanpa pengemudi, yang membutuhkan sejumlah besar sensor berbagai jenis dan unit pemrosesan yang kuat serta andal untuk melaksanakan mengemudi otonom dengan aman.
