9.6.- PERPINDAHAN PANAS

Hukum termodinamika berurusan dengan transfer energi dan interaksi antara panas dan kerja, tetapi hanya dalam sistem kesetimbangan. Akibatnya, hukum memungkinkan kita untuk menentukan keadaan awal dan akhir, tetapi tidak bisa digunakan untuk memprediksi dan mengukur proses antara. Perpindahan panas menyediakan metode untuk menentukan proses ini.

Ada tiga mode perpindahan panas:

  • Konduksi: terjadi dalam media padat karena efek gradien suhu yang menyebabkan perpindahan panas dari zona suhu tertinggi ke terendah. Panas yang ditransmisikan oleh konduksi per unit waktu sebanding dengan gradien suhu dikalikan dengan luas A.
  • Konveksi: ketika fluida bersentuhan dengan permukaan padat, pertukaran antara partikel fluida dan padatan terjadi. Ada dua proses konveksi:
  • Konveksi bebas: gaya pendorong berasal dari perbedaan densitas antar partikel fluida. Suhu dan kepadatan partikel yang kontak dengan padatan berubah, menyebabkan aliran ke atas.
  • Konveksi paksa: gaya pendorong berasal dari luar dan menggerakkan fluida di permukaan.
  • Radiasi: tanpa adanya media, terjadi perpindahan panas total melalui radiasi antara dua permukaan pada suhu yang berbeda karena perubahan konfigurasi elektronik dari atom atau molekul yang membentuk permukaan tersebut. Panas yang dipancarkan radiasi dijelaskan oleh hukum Stefan-Boltzmann.

Perpindahan panas tidak dapat dicegah, tetapi kecepatan transfer dapat diubah. Studi perpindahan panas penting untuk menentukan bahan atau konfigurasi yang mengoptimalkan nilai tukar panas berdasarkan beberapa parameter.
