11.2.- REATORES QUÍMICOS

A reactor químico é um dispositivo no qual uma reacção química pode ser produzida. Isto significa que uma alteração na composição química da matéria introduzida tem lugar no interior do reactor.

São concebidos de modo a obter a melhor conversão e selectividade, os melhores resultados possíveis. Podem conter um catalisador, um composto que melhora a cinética de reacção, dependendo da reacção realizada. Se este catalisador for uma enzima purificada ou o organismo que contém essa enzima, então estamos a falar de bioreactores.

Existem várias classificações de reactores: dependendo do número de fases (homogéneo e heterogéneo), do regime térmico (isotérmico ou adiabático) e do tipo de operação (discontinuo, continuo ou fluxo e semicontinuo).

Dependente do tipo de operação:

  • Continuo. Tanque perfeito de mistura/agitação reactor (CSTR), plug flow/tubular reactor.
  • Discontinuante. Tanque agitado reactor (lote).

De acordo com o número de fases:

  • Homogéneo. Uma única fase. cama fixa, cama móvel, cama fluidizada, etc.
  • Eterogénico. Várias fases. Podem ser catalisantes ou não-catalisantes. O leito fixo e leito fluidizado são os exemplos mais comuns de reactor catalítico heterogéneo.

Estes são os reactores mais comuns, embora existam muitos outros, tais como reactores combinados em série, enzimático reactores catalíticos, reactores de ciclo, etc.

Dado o progresso tecnológico, tem sido possível estudar cinética de reacções químicas e o concepção de reactores usando processos simulação sistemas. Além disso, há um avanço em termos de controlo de processos para resolver certos problemas na indústria química e também cumprir as restrições ambientais.

Ligada ao cuidado do ambiente, a indústria química tem vindo a adaptar-se e a investigar sobre novos materiais ideais, catalistas, etc., que cumprem as restrições ambientais.
