Communication aspects of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS)
At EDIBON we believe that we must be one step ahead in the training of students, as in the world of communication, where a hands-on experience will help the engineering students of today to have a foundation for the changes of tomorrow.
The Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) sector is currently expanding, particularly in the civil or commercial sector, although the UAS government sector has been experiencing a high growth rate in the last few years.
The Unmanned Aircraft System has a wide variety of applications in both military and civil applications including high voltage line monitoring, environmental monitoring, high precision terrain mapping, etc. But what all these systems have in common are the communication systems, an indispensable element for the correct functioning of the UAS.
Applications outside the laboratory:
We can find different real applications of these technologies developed by some universities and companies, such as:
- Members of the AtlantTIC Research Centre of the University of Vigo have used drones to perform experimental validation flights of a satellite link for civil use. This technology will allow instantaneous transmission of more information in less time automatically adapting it to the channel.
- The Spanish operator Hispasat carried out a demonstration with the aeronautical company Inaer of a new satellite connectivity solution with drones. The test allowed the transmission of video in real time from a drone flying over the beach of Catoira (Pontevedra) to the airfield of Rozas.
