The main element of the "FPCC" unit is a transparent packed column, which can be used with water, air or both fluids, simulating an absorption column.
When working with water, the unit includes a computer controlled speed pump to impel the water from the storage tank to the upper side of the column (or lower side of the column if valves are arranged), passing through a flow sensor.
The air circuit includes a compressor that impels air to the lower side of the column for a countercurrent or parallel operation with water. The air flow is measured with a flowmeter.
The packing material in the column can be exchanged to study the influence of different types of contact.
There are pressure sensors at the upper, middle and lower part of the column to determine pressure drops in the fixed bed and two "J" type temperature sensors to measure the air and water temperatures.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
